Research Interests:

I study early-late cytoplasmic events in the synthesis of eukaryotic large ribosomal sub-unit. This maturation process involves recycling trans-acting ribosome biogenesis factors, addition of remaining ribosomal proteins and rearrangement of rRNA helices to build critical ligand binding sites on the ribosomes before they participate in translation. I also occassionally collaborate with structural biologists to gain visual insights into the process of ribosome biogenesis. When not in lab, I like to explore butterflies, art, flowers, books, elephants and everything in between with my two year old daughter.
